Through a Crack in the Lake is a series of collaborative paintings made by Patricia Opel & Timothy Norris.
Spanning a twenty-two year period from 1994 to 2016, fourteen large-scale paintings represent an ongoing interest in the visual narration of Great Lakes' shipwrecks.
The series title comes from sailor's lingo that describes the abrupt disappearance of a ship during a storm. Another interpretation of the title suggests a "mythic descent into the subconscious."
